ENCOURAGING DOWRY LESS MARRIAGES: The following five couples who got married without accepting dowry were felicitated with Silver kumkum Karada, Fruits and Flower Bouquets.This is the humble way for encouraging dowry less marriages.

MARRIAGE HELP: It  will  be  our  endeavor to extend our helping hand to our community girls who may be in nee of financial help to  meet  the expenses towards marriage. Hence we have formulated a policy to help such  girls by  way of  financial  assistance   upto  Rs. 25000/= each.  The   needy   parents   are requested to  contact  our office  after the  engagement  ceremony  to  avail  this help.

We earnestly request those members who are financially  well  off  to come forward and contribute generously   to    our    SOCIAL WELFARE FUND   and   to  be  part    of   this     noble   deed   of helping our   community   girls in their marriage.

DONERS: Smt. and Shri. Laxman P. Shetty-SIDHIVINAYAK  REFRESHMENTS,  Prabhadevi  who  has donated  Rs. 25000/.  This  enabled  us  to  help  towards  the  marriage  expenses of Ms. Kusuma Shetty,  D/o Shri.  Bermu Shetty  (Thane)   by donating the  Mangal Sutra, Dhare Saree, Muhurtha Saree and cash of Rs. 8000/, thus  of  totaling Rs. 25000/.The Dhare Saree and Muhurtha Saree were provided by Shree Sunder  Silks  at concesional   rates.  An amount of Rs.5000/ was given to Mr. Ganesh  Yadav  our employee, as  marriage aid who  is  working  us  for the last 5 years.

DARI DEEPA YOJANE: Our Ex. President Shri. Tokuruguttu Bhaskar Shetty who attended the Annual General Body Meeting of Federation of Bunts Association at Mangalore and promised to donate Rs. 1,00,000/=  on behalf of Bombay Bunts Association to their proposed “Daari Deepa Yojane “ to rehabilitate such Bunts women as have been the victims of  deceptions in marriages by some unscrupulous elements in recent time

      Apart from above our Association had also assured constructive help in this regard pursuant to appeal from the Federation. We compliment Shri. Amarnath Shetty(Ex.MLA) and office bearers of Kaup Yuva Bantara Sangha for detecting the malpractices in the marriage and nabbing the culprits.

MEDICAL AID:

1.    For the treatment of cancer Medical aid of Rs.5000/= was given to the D/o Smt. Sujatha Shetty.(Thane)

2.    For the treatment of cancer Medical aid of Rs. 6500/= was given to Shri. Gopal Shetty .(Dombivli)

EDUCATION COMMITTEE:

SCHOLARSHIP DISTRIBUTION  AND ADOPTION AND HONOURING MERITORIOUS STUDENTS:

  The Association has honored  9 meritorious and adopted 32 poor students and distributed Scholarships to 285 students during the year. On 27^th August 2000 a function was held at Swamy Nithyanand Hall-Sion Mumbai to distribute Scholarships and adopt poor students.

 Shri. Jayakar Shetty M.D. of TECHNO MECH OFF SHORE SERVICES Pvt.Ltd. and his wife Yashoda J. Shetty who are the Chief Guests of that function contributed the major share in the distribution Scheme.

PATRAPUSHPA Patrapushpa mouthpiece of our Association a monthly magazine with literary and cultural articles, news, and information of our Association and our community members. Patrapushpa is the life line of our Association. It thrives on making the bond between us stronger and helps in enriching the culture, social interaction, love, and compassion towards each other.

As you are aware, it  has become very difficult to send Patrapushpa free to our members due to increasing cost, So we have created a Fund by enrolling members to Patrapushpa so that it stands on its own feet. We have started enrolling the members for  the Life Membership. All are requested to co-operate in this noble cause by becoming its members.

Patrapushpa Quiz: Readers of Patrapushpa from all over the country have participated in large numbers in making our Patrapushpa Quiz Contest a grand success.

  LEGAL AND EMPLOYMENT COMMITTEE:

Employment Data Bank: The committee has already formed the “Employers and Employees Data Bank “ to help to getting employment to our members. The members are requested to make use of the facility. The Entrepreneurs, Industrialist , and all other Employers are requested to help in this Project and make use of this facility to recruiting the personnel in their Establishments.

SPORTS AND CULTURAL COMMITTEE:

To promote the youth of our community in our interaction, to make them come forward and participate in the activities of our Association and to improve the general welfare of the youth is the main object of this committee.

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES: Our members in large numbers have attended and successfully participated in the Vishwa Buntara Sanskritika Kalotsava held at Suratkal on 20-21^st Jan 2001. Our President is one of the Guest speakers at the ceremony and we have contributed Rs.15000/= for the function.

LADIES WING: The Ladies Wing are very active in social services.

Free Distribution of Uniforms: The Ladies Wing  distributed uniforms to the students of Santacruz Muncipal Corporation School.

“Millenium Sthree" 2000: Our ladies have participated in the “Millenium Sthree 2000” and our Chairperson has excelled in various cultural activities.  Our Ladies wing  organized the Fund Raising Programme at Visvesvaraya Smarak Sabagraha Matunga. Smt. Sushila  C. Shetty  A Senior Police Officer was the Guest for the function.  

Free Medical Check up Camp:

 A free medical camp has successfully completed at Swamy Nithyanand Hall in association with Central Hospital.(Bhandup-W)

BUNTS NYAYA MANDALI: To enable community members to resolve the disputes among themselves  through the process of mediation and conciliation and arbitration “BUNTS NYAYA MANDALI “ was formed as per the advice of Honorable Justice of supreme Court of India ,Shri. Santhosh Hegde  who inaugurated it Bunts Sangha in the presence of Honorable Justice of Mumbai High Court Shri. Radhakrishnan, Shri. J.V.Shetty (Ex.Chairman of Canara Bank). All the members of the community are requested to make use of the opportunity.

GUJARATH EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUND: Our Association has contributed Rs.51,000/= to Gujarat Earth Quake Relief Fund.

MEMBERSHIP: As on 31-05-2001 total number of our members reached 6104.During the period from Jan2000-May2000,292 new members were admitted to our Association.
