JATADHARI
As the name indicates, Jataadhaarii is an incarnation of Lord Shiva in the form of spirit worshipped mostly in southern part of Tulunad.The impersonator with moustache, white nama mark on face, red cap, tufted hair, bells tied on the thighs and trident in hand looks like Lord Shiva. Elaborate ornamentation and facial make up are employed. The trident is accepted ceremoniously by the impersonator. He holds a tray containing burning charcoal in hands and performs pooja and ritual dance.
