Ullaya:
Dharmarasu Ullaya of Khandige has a famous shrine at Sasihitlu near Pavanje. As per the legend Ullaya came there in the form of a bell-metal mask in a country-boat along with another spirit Odantaya. The spirit took the form of a Brahmin demanded the local fishermen to get a shrine but for it. The fishermen directed the spirit to a Jain Queen who was pleased to get a shrine constructed. The original mask which came in the country-boat is preserved there. It is believed that the mask is at least 800 years old. A festival is celebrated on the first day of the second solar month of the Indian Calendar. For one month before the festival the fishermen abstain from fishing and on the appointed hour of the festival day one can witness a ceremonious catching of the fish. The shrine known as aalade is one of the oldest spirit shrines of South Kanara.
