     Service to others without expecting any returns is not an easy task & it’s not a job that any one could possibly perform. But this  was the guiding principle,in the life of Late Shri.A.B.SHETTY who was born on 15th  November 1882 &  was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Mulki  Doddamane  Kalappa  Shetty. He originally belonged  to an agriculturist  family but went  on to be the  Chairman of  the village Panchayat showing an inclination for social ser- vice  at a  very young  age. He also  had a very illustrious & respectable  political career. His service  in the field of  education  was a great boon to the BUNTS. He began the hostel facility in order to promote  better  educational environment for the students of the  community. He also took care that the girls of the community didn’t fall behind & founded the Ramakrishna Girls’ Hostel at Mangalore. Also his hands-on training & experience & his belief in the saying "Pens are more powerful than Swords" resulted in the start of a newspaper "NAVAYUGA" which he published in order to share his knowledge with the whole society. To help the agriculturists he had started the VIJAYA BANK & was the president of the bank from 1931 to 1937. In 1937 he was elected as the MLA of the Madras Assembly .  Thereafter  he  was  nominated  as Parliament Secretary & then he became Minister in the state of Madras. Once again in 1956 he became minister in the state of Mysore but after 1959 he involved himself  in the  activity  he liked the best i.e. serving  the human  race  through his Social Service.

     The fact that a single person can influence and rather lead the lives of hundreds of people towards the path of progress is highly motivating. Such a person was  LATE Shri. Mulki Sunder Ram Shetty , born on 30th April 1917 the only son of Mr.and Mrs.Bommerabettu Muddana Shetty and married to Smt. Kusumavati Shetty of Kolyar Hiriyadka.

      At the dawn of his career after serving companies like Tropical, Warden, Crescent, Atlas & Triton he began a career in insurance & adopted banking as a new way of life.

    He was associated with VIJAYA BANK since 1946 and joined the board of directors of the bank as Chairman from 1962; he became the Hon. Chairman from 1962 to 1969 & then remained as full time Chairman till 1978. He proved to be a savior and rescued the bank from sinking. At the crucial time when the entire BUNTS community was thrown out from their landed properties due to land reforms, he threw open the doors of the bank to all graduate BUNTS. He provided employment to almost 9000 youngsters among which 90% were BUNTS & he also did the same for widows, and the very poor and landless section of the community. The sense of compassion, love and kindness towards others were the natural assets of Shri. Sunder Ram Shetty & today he stands tall among the BUNTS down the centuries & with due respect we would like to express our regards & gratitude towards him for what he was to us – ‘A Shining Beacon’

     Born on 16th June 1909 to Irmady Smt. Lingamma Heggadthi and Shri. Kaudoor Subbayya Hegde and inspite of having an agricultural background Justice K.S.Hedge always believed in "Justice for one and all". Shri.      He made this saying happen after he finished his degree in law. He had done his earlier education in Karkala and Mangalore and completed his higher education at Presidency College ,Madras. He started as a lawyer in 1936 at Karkala and thereafter in Mangalore upto 1948. He positively influenced the lives of many people through his sense of justice and his love for truth. Finally in 1951 he was elected as Member of Parliament. In 1977 he was elected as speaker in the Parliament for a span of 3 years and in between he served as Chief Justice of Karnataka and Delhi High Courts. Then 1973 onwards he served as Justice in Supreme Court. Being from an agricultural background he contributed a lot in the upcoming of the village folks both in the fields of education and industries. Starting of " Nitte Education Society " and " Lamina Industries" are highlighted examples. Justice K.S.Hegde always believed in truth and finally after fulfilling almost all of his duties towards the poor and needy this caring intellectual and famous politician as well as JUSTICE, Shri. K.S.Hegde expired in the year 1990 at the age of 81. We express our due respect to this Man of Justice, Truth & social service.

     Engineers are said to be the cream of the society and one of the strongest building blocks of a Nation.

     Shri. H.T.Bhandary born in village Harekala proud this saying. He completed his earlier education from canara High School & Government College, Bangalore. In 1932 he joined the well reputed Banaras University & finished his Mechanical Engineering, degree from there after which he jointed Mysore Iron & Steel works at Bhadravati, worked at Indian Iron & Steel works at Bhadravati, worked at Tata Iron & Steel at Jamshedpur, Indian Standard metals at Bombay, Jaipur Metals & Alloy etc. His vast experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering, enable him to start "Bhandary Metallurgicals Ltd" in 1943. When the industry started flourishing immensely he diversified it & started a branch as "Bhandary Metals & Alloys" at Bangalore in 1973 & even started exporting the Products in a big way. The Indian Govt. recognised him in terms of his knowledge, experience, works & Intellect as one of the specialists in the field of Mechanical Engineering & sent him to U.S.A. as team member of the delegation to U.S.A. Irrespective of all his achievements his inclination towards social service was immense. In order to help the poor & needy he started a trust called "H.T.Bhandary foundation Trust." In Bangalore he started a "charitable Dispensary" & a modern "pathological Laboratory", thereby helping the people who were financially deprived. He had donated prime land in Bombay for the construction of "Buntara Sangha", he also donated 3-4 acres of land freely to "Buntara Sangha" in Bangalore because of his great love for BUNTS the Bombay, Bangalore Bunts sangha is named as "Smt.Radhabhai Timmappa Bhandary Bhavana". We express our sense of gratitude towards this great engineer.
