The
fact that a single person can influence and rather lead the lives of
hundreds of people towards the path of progress is highly motivating. Such
a person was LATE Shri. Mulki Sunder Ram Shetty , born on 30th
April 1917 the only son of Mr.and Mrs.Bommerabettu Muddana Shetty and
married to Smt. Kusumavati Shetty of Kolyar Hiriyadka. |
At the dawn of his career after serving companies like Tropical, Warden,
Crescent, Atlas & Triton he began a career in insurance & adopted
banking as a new way of life.
He was associated with VIJAYA BANK since 1946 and joined the board of
directors of the bank as Chairman from 1962; he became the Hon. Chairman
from 1962 to 1969 & then remained as full time Chairman till 1978. He
proved to be a savior and rescued the bank from sinking. At the crucial
time when the entire BUNTS community was thrown out from their landed
properties due to land reforms, he threw open the doors of the bank to all
graduate BUNTS. He provided employment to almost 9000 youngsters among
which 90% were BUNTS & he also did the same for widows, and the very
poor and landless section of the community. The sense of compassion, love
and kindness towards others were the natural assets of Shri. Sunder Ram
Shetty & today he stands tall among the BUNTS down the centuries &
with due respect we would like to express our regards & gratitude
towards him for what he was to us – ‘A Shining Beacon’
